Update

My Goals for this summer:

1: Fit into size 36 jeans. They can be tight, I just want to be able to button them up and pull up the zipper. -- I'm almost into size 38s, so I'm about half-way there.
2: Be to at least 255 pounds. That is a loss of 13 pounds. -- Haven't lost any more weight. No closer to reaching than when this was posted.
3: Now that I've mastered the 3x3 Rubik's Cube, I want to learn to do the 4x4 one. -- With rent, I haven't had a chance to buy a 4X4 one yet. I still plan to however...
4: Gain a basic knowledge of how to play the guitar. Let's face it, knowing the trombone isn't going to impress anyone. -- Dad told me I could try to learn using his bass. I'm very slow and don't know much yet, but I can play the very basics of Live and Let Die.
5: Finish up going through my Java Book. This means over 1000 pages of programming that I need to teach myself in preparation for next semester. -- I haven't even tried on this one.
6: Buy a MacBook Pro. (I'll likely just use money from my trust fund for this, but I still want to save some money towards it.) -- Mom found some online, now we just need to see if it's the best deal.
7: Do a semi-comprehensive study on Elijah. I read some of the chapters about him last night, but I want to go deeper. -- Checked out a couple of books on him from the church library, but haven't gotten very far.
8: Read 6 books of the bible in their entirety. -- I'm almost to two.
9: Tell Austin and Aaron (Two of my best friends) about my struggle with suicidal desires. -- I was going to tell Austin this past Sunday, but he didn't show up to OverFLOW, so that fell through. Depending on my schedule for next week, I may try to tell Austin on Sunday.
10: Make it through the summer without having a serious suicidal thought. (I'm almost to a year without any serious thoughts about it). --I've officially passed the 11 month milestone, so 27 days to go to make a year... However, it might behoove you all to read what's said under the update.
11: Prepare myself to ask out Alicia when classes resume. I want to do this, but I'm scared. -- Still nervous, but still excited about the prospect.

This needs to be said: What the hell was M. Night Shyamalan thinking when creating that new film "The Happening"? He should at least warn that it's not for people who have struggles with suicide/self-mutilation. The whole time I was watching it, demons from my past kept coming up to haunt me. When you add in one of those over-used Global Warming stories and extremely wooden acting and you've got a movie that is not even categorizable in the "Piece of shit" category.
Seriously, I was expecting more...

Summer Goals

So the semester from hell is FINALLY OVER! I failed my programming class, but I'd known that was coming for a while.

From the past two posts, there's a few things that I should update you all on. First, the pictures from my Missions trip are on my Facebook:

Before and afters of the house we worked on:

And then some random pictures from the other stuff we did (such as going to the French Quarter, Driving around and looking at the devastation, and then some general hacky-Sacking.)

Second, The last time I posted, I had just started fitting into size 42 jeans. You'll all be glad to hear that I'm now in size 40 jeans.

That said, I do have some quasi-lofty goals for this summer, and I figure I'll post them here now, and when classes begin, evaluate how many of them I actually accomplished.

1: Fit into size 36 jeans. They can be tight, I just want to be able to button them up and pull up the zipper.
2: Be to at least 255 pounds. That is a loss of 13 pounds.

Heading Home

This past week (AKA Spring Break), I went down to New Orleans on a missions trip with my OverFLOW group. It was totally sweet. I was assigned to a house where we had to do some siding. I had never done that before, but it's really not that hard. It's mostly just time-consuming. The group I was with managed to get three sides of the house finished up, plus a really large amount of softfit on the outside. The other part of the group I was in was inside painting, texturing, and mudding the walls.

I would post more, but I'm tired, so I'll likely write more come Monday once I've rested and uploaded the photos. (If you have me on Facebook, you can check out the before and afters on the house.)

And one last thing...HACKY SACK ROCKS!!!

Size 42s

Well, as I mentioned a few posts back, I had some issues with my knee this last summer (May). When I went in for an MRI, I weighed in at 318 lbs. (Yes, I know that's bad.) At that time, I was wearing mostly size 46 pants and even had a few size 48s.

That weigh-in was a bit of a wake up call, and even though I didn't do much right away, I knew I had to start losing weight.

As of last week when I weighed myself, I was at 278 lbs. That means that since May, I've lost 40 lbs.

The reason I'm posting this now is because when I went back home last Wednesday, I grabbed a really old pair of pants that I had from 11th Grade (2002-2003) that were size 42s. I've been putting off trying them on because the last time I tried, I was close, but not there yet. Even after the excitement of realizing that I was at the 40 lb. milestone, part of me was thinking that I still wouldn't fit in them.

I just put them on, and, while they are a bit tight, they fit surprisingly well.

40 lbs down. 48 lbs to go.

So, yeah. It's happened in Virginia and Colorado (albeit, on a much grander scale, and at a school), and now I guess that Nebraska has been added to the list. I must admit I'm surprised, but the shock of the situation still hasn't fully sunk in yet.

I just am a bit surprised that it actually happened.

Please pray for the victims.

And is it just me or is the shocked smilie not very appropriate for a situation like this?

Church Retreat

I'm going to be leaving on a church retreat in about an hour and a half. I'll try to post some pictures when I get back.

Jeopardy Questions

I'm in a class for PowerPoint, and being only a 1 credit class, the last class is this Tuesday.

What I'm doing is making a PowerPoint Jeopardy game. However, I've got the categories, but not all the questions, which is where I'm asking for help.

The Categories are:

Movies
TV Shows
Sports
Music
Books
Video Games

I really don't need help with The TV show category or the Movie category (Although if you want to suggest a question, I'm not going to turn it down.)

The areas I need help in are Sports, Books, Video Games, and Music. The questions need to have varying difficulties.

So if you want to offer a question, just reply to this post, and include the answer.

Prayer Request

I understand that not everyone is a Christian, but if you are, I'd appreciate some prayers for my brother this week. He's only 24 and he's getting a pacemaker put in on Thursday. My parents are going up to WY to see him.

If you're wondering what's wrong with his heart, don't ask me. All I know is that something's wrong and hopefully this will fix it.

TV Meme

TV Show Meme

Grabbed from [info]bluedelft

Name your top six TV shows right now, before reading the questions.

1. Alias
2. Heroes
3. Prison Break
4. Dark Angel
5. Las Vegas
6. Threshold

1. Who is your favorite character from #2 (Heroes)?
Sylar

2. Who is your least favorite character from #4 (Dark Angel)?
Mole-Arrogant, self-obsessed, useless.

3. What would a crossover between #1 (Alias) and #5 (Las Vegas) include?
My guess would be that Ed would have to go back to the CIA and work with Sydney and Jack to bring down a terrorist planning on attacking Las Vegas.

4. Who is your favorite ship from #6 (Threshold)?
There's really only one that was made in the episodes that aired and that was Caffrey/Cavenaugh.

5. If you were to set one person from #3 (Prison Break) and one person from #6 (Threshold) on a blind date, who would they be?
Probably Molly Caffrey and Michael Scofield. Both geniuses who plan things out to the most minor situations.

6. If you could meet one person from #4 (Dark Angel) and spend the day with them, who would it be, and what would you do?
Probably Max, and I have no idea what would happen.

7. If you could change one thing about #2's (Heroes) plot line, what would you change?
Most definitely more Sylar, with Peter going back to NY, Mohinder doing more as the mole in the company, get rid of the story set in New Orleans, and amp up the Niki/Jessica scenes.

8. Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5 (Las Vegas), and why you like the relationship between them?
Well, Danny and Ed was classic because of the admiration Danny had for Ed. Danny and Mike is always fun to see because of their friendship. Danny and Mary was good until Mary couldn't deal with Danny's dating of Delinda, and became a bitch about it. Sam and Casey was great, but now he's dead. From last night's episode, I think that Sam/Cooper has some potential.

9. If the lead title characters (first name in the credit sequence) from #1 (Alias) and #3 (Prison Break) were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be?
Well, I seriously doubt Sydney would ever allow herself to drown, and even though Michael is the lead title character of Prison Break, Lincoln is credited first, so between Sydney and Lincoln, I'd probably save Sydney, just because since she's a federal agent who has saved the world several times, it's only logical to save her.

10. If you could change the title characters' order in the credits for #4 (Dark Angel), what order would you choose?
Max, Logan, Alec, O.C. Normal, Joshua, Ames, Asha. If I missed a character, then obviously they'd be last.

11. If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline for #6 (Threshold), what would the character be like, and what would their role be?
Well, Daphne was a good character, but the episode she was in never aired. Honestly, I think it'd be interesting to see someone that Fenway had cured mid-infection that had the superhuman strength and the crazy dreams, but was no longer at risk of progressing to fully infected.

12. What happens in your favorite episode of show #2 (Heroes)?
Parasite--Mohinder figures out that Zane is actually Sylar and then tries to use him to develop the cure.

13. If you could kill off one of the characters in #1 (Alias), who would it be and how would you do it?
Sark -- Something long and painful, and preferably at Vaughn's hands.

14. If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 (Prison Break) or show #5 (Las Vegas), which would you choose?
I guess that depends on which season of PB we're talking about. S1 and S2 of Prison Break would have been a blast to be on set for. S3 not so much.

I HATE JAVA!!!

I'm in a class called CSIS 130. Basically it's an introduction to JAVA programming.

A) I can't seem to get an If-Else statement to work.
B) We just started GUI, and the way the teacher showed us to make a window to collect info doesn't work because the Icon isn't present.
C) There will be more things later but those are the two things that are really pissing me off about it right now.
